Per the LMA Motto, to become a true martial artist one must have exposure to the ideas of other martial artists and similarly have your ideas scrutinised and vetted.
All-Style Training is a concept that the talented martial artists of Dublin City University’s Martial Arts Club developed during Sensei Mick's time at DCUMAC. It is the means to let all artists of any style and level train together and share their knowledge. One way of doing this is to pick a topic (e.g. defending against straight punch) and give each student the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their approach, and get feedback from other students.
The LMA Philosophy gears all of our classes to utilise the all-style training techniques. Additionally Sensei Mick and his students will arrange and participate in various events:
Guest Instruction: where an instructor (or experienced student) teaches at a club other than their own.
Cross Training: where the students and instructor of one club go to train with the instructor and students at another club.
Seminar/Workshop: where students and instructors from many clubs attend a class usually from a Master Instructor covering a specific topic.
Festival: typically a one or two day event where a series of seminars are held.
